About Rebecca for 2024

Education
All children in Tennessee deserve a high-quality education in a safe environment. Teachers need to be allowed to teach without having to defend their teaching plans. Schools should be a place to explore, discuss and understand difficult concepts.
• Taxpayer funds should go to public schools, not private corporations with outside state influence
• Schools should be a place of learning. Guns have no place in our schools. Let’s increase SROs. Explore more community involvement.
• Fund mental health resources such as increase access to mental health providers and counselors.
• Fund early childhood education (ECE). ECE support has been shown to reduce the disadvantages some children experience. ECE can improve cognitive and social development, reduce the chance of dropouts, and improve educational outcomes at all levels. Remember HeadStart?

Safe Communities
Tennessee Department of Health reports that firearms are the leading cause of death in Tennessee. One in four childhood deaths are tied to guns. As a responsible gun owner, Becky supports common-sense gun laws to protect our most vulnerable populations.
• Ensure safe storage of firearms to prevent accidental deaths or injuries.
• Review current gun laws on the books to either update, change or remove to make easier to enforce.
• Showing respect for all members of our communities regardless of sexual orientation, education, political affiliations, or religious beliefs.
• Funding of police training in de-escalation techniques.

HealthCare
Self-determination is a concept that refers to the ability or power to make decisions for oneself, without external compulsion. Every human should have the basic right to decide health care decisions are guided by their health care provider and not a politician.
In East Tennessee, our supposed healthcare has become a monopoly. Once a monopoly takes over a business or health care system, quality goes down, prices go up, access to care decreases, and staff burnout increases.
• Tennessee ranks 44th in all over healthcare (America Health Ranking Annual report 2022).
• Tennessee maternity death rates are double the national average.
• Mortality rates in Tennessee are the 3rd worse in the nation.
• Reduce child poverty and ensure families have healthy food options.
• Expanding Medicaid which would provide millions to helping Tennessee families
• Supporting access to Medical Marijuana
